Details: Position Summary::The Transportation Manager will lead and guide Thermadyne’s transportation initiative to support all product line offerings. Establish the direction and guide the implementation of the delivery process within the order fulfillment and sourcing processes. Also, accountable for increasing the effectiveness of the transportation network by lowering costs, increasing efficiency, and increasing customer satisfaction and responsible for analyzing rates, modes, and volume to make recommendations for changes to the current network. Facilitate the selection and continued development of all current and potential new carriers to meet customer requirements on service while meeting corporate objectives on pricing and performance on agreed to standards for all modes of transportation, in all operating companies.  Responsibilities:Manage an annual freight spend of approximately $20 million Consolidate our volume and transportation function for our land, air, international, and all relations with transportation carrier.Negotiate exceptional volume rates with our transportation carriersNegotiate contracts with third party payment and audit companies and monitor performanceInterface between carriers and third party providers and THMD for related mattersOversee carrier negotiations, capitalizing on cost savings initiativesDevelop plans and tactics to communicate transportation strategy for the organization.Present business opportunities to management for optimization of cost savingsDevelop metrics and best practice standards to measure progress against goals for businessPrepare reports for management regarding department operations, measurements and successReport on carrier performance relating to on-time delivery, in transit damage, invoicing accuracy, and contract complianceIdentify, analyze and implement projects to reduce costs and increase customer satisfactionReport on carrier expenses monthly; perform trend analysis on actual expense versus contractual ratesInterface with the distribution centers, sourcing managers and carriers to ensure they are receiving Thermadyne discount ratesWork with Distribution and marketing to ensure transportation product packaging design requirements meet NMFC standardsOptimize the SOP’s of third party freight payment providerDesign and implement operational and customer service processes that include booking, load building or shipment consolidation, shipment routing and billing, supplier order communication, shipment event collection and management, exception management, and customer reporting.Establish effective metrics and alert processes to monitor and manage daily operations, and network and carrier performance.
